System Requirements

AhaKey Studio requires macOS 12.0 or later and a Mac with Bluetooth 4.0 or later. An AhaKey-X1 keyboard is required for full functionality.

The app cannot find my keyboard

1. Make sure your AhaKey-X1 keyboard is powered on and discoverable.

2. Allow AhaKey Studio to use Bluetooth in macOS "System Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth".

3. Restart the app and click Connect Device.

The keyboard does not respond after writing config

1. Confirm the app status bar shows "Connected".

2. Try reconnecting the device.

3. Check whether the key description contains non-ASCII characters or emoji (the OLED only reliably supports ASCII).

Mac App Store vs. Direct Download

Both the Mac App Store release and the Developer ID (direct download) release are official AhaKey Studio builds. The Mac App Store version runs inside the App Sandbox and is limited to BLE keyboard configuration. The direct download includes additional automation features that cannot operate inside the sandbox.

AhaKey Studio is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Jawa Lab is not liable for data loss or hardware damage resulting from use of the app. Please back up your keyboard configurations before making changes.
